Bringing It Home 🏡

Day 26 with 32 kms to go!

Personal fundraising goal and group fundraising goal have been reached! THANK YOU to everyone who donated, sent messages of support, and walked alongside us.

Special mention to Women at APAC for the generous donation towards this important cause, and also for the support in organising lunchtime walks at work. Thank you for the beautiful people who walked with me and shared your stories.

May the odds be better for us earth side 💕

💕Walking companions 💕

1 more week to go!

The past three weeks have flown by - I can't believe we're three quarters of the way through this challenge.

I am on track to achieve my walking goal, and I sure hope to meet the fundraising goal as well.

Importantly, I have enjoyed the company I've received during the walks so far. From remote companion in rural Victoria (thanks to modern technology), messages of support from overseas, to in-person company from a 3-year old who gives the best cuddles 🥰🥰🥰...

As of today, I have 61kms to go - who's coming for a walk with me?

Peaks and Troughs

Just like everything in life, the walking challenge is not always sunshine and rainbows.

Some (office) days look like this - just over 1km of walking by knock off time 😶

I see atonement days in my future.

Day 17

139kms down - 111kms to go! 🚶🏻‍♀️🚶🏻‍♀️🚶🏻‍♀️

This walking challenge has become so much more than kilometres and step counts. It’s been a reminder of how lucky I am to be surrounded by people who show up with encouragement, humour, and genuine care. The support and love I have received over the past few weeks meant more than I can put into words.

What surprised me the most was how this challenge quietly opened the door to reconnecting with old friends. A simple "how's the walk going?" turned into long conversations, disclosure of silent battles, shared memories, and moments that felt like picking up right where we left off. Those reconnections have been some of the most beautiful parts of this journey. Even managed a reunion dinner with old friends and realised that our friendship has lasted 25 years so far!

Thank you for cheering me on, for donating, for checking in, and for walking a little of this path with me. I've enjoyed the company, near and far, more than anything. This challenge has filled my days with purpose, gratitude, and renewed sense of connection.

Day 10

At the end of day 10 of this challenge, I have walked 75 km!

Those kms were walked with lots of support and great company - my heart is full 🩷🩷

There have been many moments of self-doubt but your generous donations have surpassed my fundraising goal! I am beyond grateful.

Thank you for keeping the hope alive, I am hopeful that we can better the odds for us all.

Love,
Lidya

Statistics

As a data and science person, I think statistics is a pretty cool way of packaging data so that it's relatable and digestable.

Well I guess it depends on the topic huh.

One fine summer day before Christmas 2024, Yenni involuntarily became a statistic. She was 1 of 56 people in Australia diagnosed with breast cancer each day.

Then a mere 14 months later, in February 2026, at the age of 36, she again became a statistic - she was 1 of 9 people in Australia who died of breast cancer each day. And definitely NOT for a lack of trying and fighting.

Unfortunately, she was in the 15% cases of breast cancer (Triple Negative) that was very aggressive and has fewer effective treatment options, despite having NONE of the known risk factors.

I'm doing this fundraising to change the statistics - for Yenni's 2 daughters, for my daughter, for my sister, for my cousins, for all women (and men!)....

Support my walk for breast cancer to help save lives.

This June, I'm taking part in The Big Bold Walk to support breast cancer research and save lives.

Did you know that 56 people are diagnosed with breast cancer every day in Australia? It's heart-breaking.

I'm walking to raise funds for Breast Cancer Trials to find new and better treatments and prevention strategies for every person affected by breast cancer to save lives today, tomorrow and forever.

Please support me now by sponsoring my challenge. Every dollar helps.

Together, we can move closer to a world where NO MORE lives are cut short by breast cancer.

Thank you so much.
